Key Responsibilities Assist in carrying out preventative and breakdown maintenance on diesel equipment. Support repairs on engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and braking systems. Help dismantle, inspect, repair, and reassemble components under supervision. Perform routine servicing such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication. Assist in maintaining mining equipment such as: Dump trucks Excavators Front-end loaders Dozers and graders Assist in conducting routine inspections and identifying mechanical faults. Report defects and abnormal equipment behavior to the supervisor. Follow safe lifting, handling, and lockout/tagout procedures. Report hazards, near misses, and incidents immediately. Key Skills and Attributes Basic mechanical and technical skills. Ability to follow instructions and learn quickly. Good problem-solving ability. Physical fitness and ability to work in demanding conditions. Strong commitment to safety. Exposure to oil, grease, dust, noise, and heavy machinery. Shift work, including standby and emergency breakdown response. Qualifications & Experience Minimum: National Certificate / Class 4 Journeyman (Diesel Plant Fitting) or equivalent. Basic mechanical knowledge of diesel engines and heavy equipment. 2–4 years’ experience in a mining or heavy equipment environment is an advantage.
