Description

Carrying out planned maintenance, machine installations, and breakdown maintenance by diagnosing faults and repairing equipment. Ensuring breakdown repairs and maintenance are carried out by scheduling repairs and ordering materials to ensure all equipment is functioning properly. Carrying out machine installations by following correct procedures and methods. Conducting preventive maintenance by scheduling maintenance of equipment before breakdowns occur. Conducting routine servicing of plant and equipment to identify and prevent potential damage. Monitoring adherence to operational procedures in line with manufacturer guidelines. Conducting general metal fabrication using arc welding or brazing techniques. Training and guiding assistant fitters and new employees on equipment, safety procedures, and techniques. Assisting with procurement of spares by providing accurate specifications.

Requirements

Class 1 Journeyman qualification. Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience, including at least 1 year post apprenticeship. NC Certificate in Machine Shop Engineering will be an added advantage. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Good communication and organizational skills. Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints. Ability to use hand and power tools effectively. High level of attention to detail and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
